Festival-Going for Dummies - Grand Panda
Another contribution from Upside reporter-at-large Grand Panda; this time she talks us through her first experience of a festival. Make a brew and read more after the jump!
Festival-Going for Dummies
The day dawned warm and bright over the North West, full of promise and expectation. As my good friend Daisy and I packed up the car, we were excited, practically pissing ourselves with...

JON PHONICS - GUEST MIX FOR SPINE TV
One of The Upside’s favourite producers (we’re unashamed fans of his) has done a little mix for the good people over at Spine TV. Featuring a couple of exclusives, as well as a short interview, which you can read at http://www.spinetv.net/mag/2011/Aug/25/guest-mix-vol-23-jon-phonics/.
Preferably whilst listening to the mix. You’re welcome.

SEB MONTAZ - SKYLINERS PARIS
This gang of loons had practiced their high wire skills on Mont Blanc before stretching ropes across Paris’ tallest twin towers. This little trailer shows the guys larking about at ridiculous heights, showing complete trust in their balance, but ultimately their equipment.

Curriculum Vitae →
Curriculum Vitae is a blog sharing the woes of unemployment and drudgery through group interviews, rejection letters, awkward phone interviews. Funnily enough, I know the Benedict, the author, as he used to work in a bookshop near my office and we smoked together. Then he lost that job, but later turned up at an arts centre I occasionally visited. He lost that job too evidently.
The Upside wishes...

The Camera That Shoots At ONE MILLION FPS! →
Standard cinema footage runs at 24 frames per second. Vision Research’s Phantom line of high-speed video cameras (some videos posted on The Upside filmed on a Phantom were shot at around 2500fps) have pushed technology even further this time with the Phantom v1610. This baby will shoot up to 1,000,000 frames in every second.
You’re going to need one VERY large SD card.

8 HOURS IN BROOKLYN - NEXT LEVEL PICTURES
Using a Phantom Flex camera (capable of shooting upto 2570 frames per second), this film is the result of spending 8 hours in Brooklyn. Capturing skaters, ballers, and b-boys in stunning super slow motion, watching this makes me want to have a play with a Phantom Flex like nobody’s business!

Swimming – a chlorinated soap opera mind-fuck
The Upside is very pleased to offer the very first in what we hope will become a regular feature - words from The Upside’s dear friend Grand Panda. We proudly present her cutting dissection of the tribes that the recreational swimmer will encounter on trip to the municipal/gym pool.
You can of course follow Grand Panda on Twitter @wishingonapanda. Grand Panda, over to you;
For many, the...

Camera anticipation..
Panasonic is bringing out the GF7, a pro camera in the Lumix G range. Rumour has it that it will have an internal electronic viewfinder similar to the Fuji X100, but with the added advantage of micro 4/3 interchangeable lenses.
Oh crap; I’d better start saving!
